The Borg Warner 1345 transfer case is chain drive with an aluminum case, low range ratio is 2:72:1. Ford introduced the BW1345 in 1980 and utilized it until about 1988 in the F series pickup truck and Full Sized Bronco until 1989.

The Borg Warner 1356 is a part-time, chain drive 2.69:1 ratio with a magnesium case. The Borg Warner 1356 is a replacement for the earlier BW1345 transfer case. Ford installed the BW1356 transfer cases in F150, F250, F350, & Bronco's 1987-1997.
