Hello, last night was very "instructive"
We need like 16 tires & wheels (marginal figures), 5 for the car as starter, 2 for each chase truck (2x3) plus some others for the Baja Pits that we are planning to use those points where chase truck wouldn"t cover
The wheel/tire inventory that Scott and Wes did last night was key to know where we are in that aspect
1000 miles divided by 24 hours = average speed of 42 mph
1000 miles divided by 30 hours = average speed of 33 mph, this was more or less what we did a MORE, as reference
1 S 01.41:11 F 04.18:29 “ 02.37:18 “ Avg. 27.8 MPH (Wes/Roberto)
2 S 04.18:29 F 06.31:42 “ 02.13:13 “ Avg. 32.9 MPH (Josh/Jose)
3 S 06.31:42 F 08.48:56 “ 02.17:16 “ Avg. 31.9 MPH (Jac/Roberto)
Be prepared for 30+ hours or race!!!
ETS : Friday noon
ETA: Saturday night, Sunday Morning
2009 results
STOCK FULL (Stock, Full-sized trucks)—1. Joe Bacal, Anthem, Ariz./Paul Williamsen, Los Alamitos, Calif./Ted Moncure, Long Beach, Calif., Lexus LX570, 16:22:26 (26.41mph).
(3 Starters, 1 Finisher)
Pro Cars & Trucks
SCORE TROPHY-TRUCK (Unlimited Production Trucks)—1. Robby Gordon, Charlotte, N.C., Chevy CK1500, 8:35:49 (50.309mph);
If we finish with an average over 30 MPH, I am buying dinner and drinks for everyone! No limit, as much as you can eat/drink in one sitting!
Some past results:
2003 - No finishers
2004 - One finisher 32.6 MPH
2005 - No finishers
2006 - One finisher 25.9 MPH
2007 - No finishers
2008 - 3 finishers, winning car 25.9 MPH average
2009 - No finishers
Some things to note. Looks like SCORE typically chooses a time limit right around 25 MPH average. The one year with 3 finishers had a long time limit for an average of just over 20 MPH. But then a similar time limit last year netted zero finishers. We'll have to see what SCORE chooses for this year's time limit.
Fuel: We are in the (-)100 miles per tank range, we need a fuel cell to increase autonomy and decrease pit stops. We know of long sections that will require +100 miles autonomy
Due to the fact that Baja is a point to point race, not a circuit, it is desirable that each driver/navigator have their own stuff (helmet + race suits + neck protector, globes, etc)
Jose and myself will look into it… all others are covered.
Where to get them?
What about the Sand Expo coming up on September 17 -19?

Shoei

stores close by

HJC

Any other brand/store that we need to look at?
What about racing suits? What is your recommendation?
