Hello From WhataJeep

Hello, I am Barry Ogletree, the owner of WhataJeep, Fredericksburg, Texas, USA. I have been watching with much interest your discussions and ideas of extending a TJ Jeep for Gio. I would like to help all of you with this project. I think it would be fun for all of us to try and communicate and to do it.

The actual stretch that is necessary is 43 3/8 inches. You must always calculate from the inside of the panel. In a TJ there are pillar and door supports that must be allowed for. To shorten it anymore, the door will then have to be made shorter. This is a difficult process even for us to do. The interior connections and door locks and controls get very complicated.

I will send more photos today if possible to communicate them to you.

Best Regards

Good to see you up here Barry :!:
Seems to be that all is going well with your membership now, Great.

Barry your help is greatly appreciated. The exact measurement is a very valuable contribution. Although I am not involved directly on this project, I have been trying to help Giovanni brainstorm some ideas.

Here are my questions:

Do you suggest that the new middle section to be added is fabricated from scratch rather than taking an existing tub? (cut it and add it)

If an existing tub is used, can the donator vehicle be a CJ or YJ?

Hi barry and welcome to TA, I thought the door issue are very complicated .. but what about leave it without doors ... only with fiberglass doors, or tube doors with a soft top . ?

Maybe with this you can save weight and some $$$ in doors.

More WhataJeep Photos

Hello, Tomorrow, I will post more Photos of our Jeeps. I have had trouble getting them to go to the Forum. We have had a terrible Hurricane Rita here, and the Eastern part of Texas is in bad condition. We made a trip of 6 hours to get my Mother. She was exactly where the storm hit Texas. The wind was recorded at 117 MPH. We took My Youkon and trailer and 45 extra gallons of gasoline. She is 90 years old, and is not well. We have not brought her to Fredericksburg, Texas. The devistation there was intense and complete. I will be able to pet photos together tonight to post tomorrow.

These will be more construction photos of the big Jeeps.
Hope to see all of you tyomorrow.
Regards Barry

Hello From WhataJeep

Hello, we are now posting some new photos on our web site www.whatajeep.com They may be something of interest to all of you. If you have any questions about the photos on the forum Please, ask, I will be glad to help. If you notice the photos The Jeep wranglers are not cut where you might think. If you try to pull it apart, and simply fill in the panel, the metal will not lay down properly. and a wave will form into the metal. It will require much more work to repair. If you construct it as we do, you can replace much easier, as the braces are ther to help hold the metal in proper place. Also, if you construct it this way, you only have a short weld to repair over the wheel well.
Thank You and Best Regards

Hello, from WhataJeep

Hello Friends, I was looking again at your fine forum. I am sorry that Gio is not going to do his Jeep Project. It consumes much time and Money to dedicate yourself to stretching a Jeep. There is many areas to educate yourself in the construction. There is good news for us here in Texas.

I recieved an email from a famous movie director in Hollywood, California. His name is Martin Scorsesi. He informed me that he is making a movie for Warner Brothers starting on Janurary 19th of 2006. It is staring, Jack Nickolson, Martin Sheen, and Mat Damon. It is called "The Hunted".
He wants to buy 3 of our WhataJeeps for the movie. It will be made in British Columbia, Canada.

The 3 Jeeps are to be of the really big ones. 4 door 6 passengers. 6 inch Old Man Emu lifts and supercharged engines. We are very proud and excited for this movie. I will write more about it when I learn more.

We have added more photos to the web site, and are now being also represented be Collins Brothers Jeeps, in Dallas Texas. They are a very large parts and used Jeep dealer here. You might see their web site at
www.collinsbrosjeep.com They are good people. I think this will help our business even more.

Does anyone have any more stretched Jeep questions?

Best Regards,
Barry

Hello Friends, I will be posting many new photos on our Web Site in the next week. We have 4 beautiful Jeeps in construction now. A Yellow TJ 2005-4door 6passenger, a black TJ 2005 4 door 6 passenger, a metallic brown body lined 4 door- 6 passenger and a Stone White 2002 WhataTruck.

These Jeeps are going to be very good. I will be checking for your questions and comments. I am very sorry that I only speak a little Spanish. I have to go to a translator to understand all of you on the forum. I cannot write back from it, as the forum will not accept it. Please, be patient with me.
